The lifting capacity of the golden eagle is both well recorded and much-disputed.
There are old stories telling about children with a weight of at least 10 kg who has been
captured by eagles.
Lets have a look!

During my years with eagles I have noticed that they like to sneak away with a pice of meat to get a chance to eat undisturbedly.
To check the lifting capacity I´v been testing different weights.  A meat pice with a weight of just over one kilo is no problem for the Golden eagle. This squirrel is a simple take-away for an eagle.

A golden eagle is able to grab meat with surprising force, wich i have both felt and seen. A Red fox with a weight of 6 - 7 kg is possibly to lift and turn around, but the eagle has not a chanse to lift  and fly away with it.
