When can I photograph golden eagles?
The season lasts from October to late March.


What are the facilities of the photo hide?
The timber hide contains a log burner heater, toilet and fits four photographers. There are eight photo holes, allowing each photographer to focus on the table where it is possible to photograph small birds and eagle close ups. In the other direction, it is possible to photograph eagle, fox and other species in the lanscape.

The new photo hide is larger and has a gas heater and toilet. It also fits four photographers. Each photographer has three photo holes, one focuses on the landscape, directly below is another photo hole that focuses on eye level shots, perfect for eagles in the close up. In the other direction is the third photo hole that targets small birds.

The lenses stick out and it therefore very important to move extremely slowly to prevent spooking the eagles. Both hides have access to 4G.


What species can I photograph?
It is possible to photograph golden eagle, goshawk, red fox and red squirrel. There are smaller birds that are frequent visitors such as bullfinch, greenfinch, common redpoll, common jay, great spotted woodpecker, grey-headed woodpecker, magpie and raven. Other species are rare but sometimes show such as waxwing, snow bunting. Because we photograph wildlife and birds, we can not guarantee what you will see. The area is sparsely populated and the wild animals are not used to people, so caution must be taken to see them.


What lenses and other equipment do I need?
Since there are at least two photo holes at each hide, having two telephoto lenses is best. For the close ups a range of 200-400mm is ideal and for the longer distance shots, between 400-600mm. There are many bean bags available in the hides but it is possible to attach your gimbal head. In the evenings it is possible to photograph the northern lights or stars, a tripod and wide angle lens 15-24mm is essential. 

The temperature in the eagle photo hides is normally between +5 - +15 degrees Celsius depending of outdoor temperature. Please wear appropriate clothing and bring a head torch as we enter the hides before sunrise to minimise disturbance. There is a 350 metre walk from the car to the eagle hide.


What are the facilities at the accommodation?
The heated house has a fully equipped kitchen, hot shower, toilet and fast internet. All meals are provided. Breakfast and dinner are taken at the house. Lunch will be taken in the hide and consists of sandwiches, fruit, coffee and tea.


What is included in the price? Two options:
2880 Skr for each person for one day. This includes accommodation, transportation from the house to the hide, hide rental and all meals. If a single room is required, there is an extra fee of 500 Skr/person and night. Accommodation after the last photo day including breakfast is provided for a cost of SEK 450 / person. Departure after breakfast.

2490 Skr for each person and day if you prefer to prepare your meals in our fully equipped kitchen. A small shop is within walking distance. Everything else mentioned above is included.


Information about other hides:
In April, we have a floating hide for common crane and whooper swan, as well as hide and tents for the black grouse lek. From late April to the first few days of May (dependent on Spring conditions), it is possible to photograph the capercaillie lek but they are very sensitive to weather conditions and It a difficult bird to photograph. Capercaillie and black grouse are both photographed from tents without heaters. Each tent will be equipped with insulation padding and winter season sleeping bags. A lens range from 300-500mm is ideal.
